Build Identifier: Moxilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.14
I have been using Thunderbird with no problems for over a year.
However - I have noticed problems during product update.
Thunderbird last updated 16 or 18/8/2008.
Now Thunderbird will not start from my desktop or program list.
1) I have tried system restore - no different.
2) I have tried removing Thunderbird and re-installing - Thunderbird will not remove through add/remove programs (control panel).
3) I have downloaded and tried to install Thunderbird 2.0.0.16 - will not install (exe file missing).
I have given up on Thunderbird as it will not remove or work anymore.
I have now returned to using Outlook Express 6 with no problems.
I have lost the e-mails I stored in Thunderbird over the past year.
How do I bring the e-mails I have 'saved' into Outlook Express?
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

For your Thunderbird problem you could try disabling Logitech quickcam and then starting Thunderbird again. Also read through the comments on bug 340535.
We cannot help you on importing into Outlook Express - you should contact Microsoft for help there.

I ran into this problem with the last SEVERAL updates for Thunderbird. I end up having to crash my computer to get out of the loop because you can't end task in time to stop it before it starts up again.
I have turned off my automatic update in Thunderbird and had to warn some of my clients, who I'd convinced to switch to Thunderbird, to not update and one I showed how to turn off the automatic updates.
This was not a problem in earlier releases of Thunderbird 2.0 and it's more than a nuisance.
I've ended up having to remove Thunderbird using Add/Remove programs and then when I check off the box to give feedback, it takes me to a blank page and there's no way to report the problem.
I have a logitech cam but it is not active all the time. I do not have the Logitech software start on boot up. And why would the cam affect a file that is about MAPI? What does the cam have to do with email?
I am greatly disappointed in the recent updates and looking in here to find solutions I mainly find bug reports listed as duplicates and what seems a tone of "we're not responsible" in the replies to the problem.
Frankly, despite the Resolution status of Resolved, I don't think it's been resolved. I am considering looking for a replacement email client as I do not want to go back to Outlook Express.
I have been very pleased with Thunderbird until now. My desire to dump Thunderbird does not come from one failed update. I've had the 017, 018 AND 019 updates fail this way.
Why can't this be fixed before three update versions have gone by?
Shame on you guys! Let's get this fixed or I'll be forced to recommend something else to my clients!
