Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1
Build Identifier: Ligntning 0.8 and Thunderbird version 2.0.0.16 (20080708)
I recently installed Lightning with the Gmail Provider.
Now, when a item comes due, I get an alarm dialog, but
I cannot do anything with the alarm. When I click
Dismiss, Dismiss All, or Snooze, nothing happens.
It seems the only thing I can do is click the window
close button. But eventually the Dialog comes back.
And when the next alarm happens, it gets added to the
dialog, and so on. I now have many alarms listed and
I can't get them to stop.
Reproducible: Always

Does this happens only with Google Calendar or with the local default calendar too? Do you see any calendar related error messages in Tools -> Error Console? If yes please copy and paste them here.

It happens only with Google and it happens both on my Win XP
system at work and on my Ubuntu system at home.
Every once in a while, the Dialog pops up again, and the only
thing I can do with it is to dismiss it.

Do you have any error console messages? Might be a duplicate candidate for bug 424185?

I restarted TBird and have these error messages as well:
document.getElementById("ViewNormalHeaders") has no properties
chrone://viewheaders/content/viewheaders.js Line 74
redeclaration of var kEventStatusOrder
chrome://ltnplus/content/unifinder.js Line 53
gConsole has no properties
chrome://global/content/console.js Line 71

I'd recommend to disable the ltnPlus extension and retest. It hasn't been updated since Lightning 0.5. I see the possibility that it breaks Lightning. Some features of that extension are now built-in or affect features that doesn't exists anymore.
(Hint: From the Error Console you can just copy the messages via context menu)

(thanks for the hint... I had been trying to select first)
I Uninstalled and restarted TBird, and the alert dialog came
up immediately with all the past reminders. I click Dismiss
and Dismiss All and nothing happens.

Does the issue still exists using Lightning 0.9 and Provider for Google Calendar 0.5.1? If not: does the Error Console shows anything during the snooze/dismiss workflow? Do you have write access to the calendar?
Comment 10•16 years ago
|

Yes, it does. Alarm cannot be neither dismissed, nor snoozed. Error console show nothing when buttons are pressed.
Lightning 0.9, Provider for Google Calendar 0.5.1, Tb 2.0.0.19

I am also having this problem, however I am getting this message in the error console.

Mark, you need write access to the calendar to snooze or dismiss alarms in it. If you don't have write access the error 0x804a0002 (CAL_IS_READONLY) is produced. (bug 356002)
Comment 13•16 years ago

I do have write access to the calendar and can create events and delete those events which I personally create but I cannot delete those which I have not created.
The error message I am getting is not CAL_IS_READONLY
Comment 14•16 years ago

Apologies, I see 0x804a0002 in the error I pasted
However, the other point is still valid, i.e. I do have write permissions and can create events
This still needs the eventual solution to bug 356002, though, right? Mark doesn't have access to write to the event (so we can record that it's been dismissed), so there needs to be a local datastore to record the dismissal.
It's probably important to note that this variation on the theme needs to be handled on bug 356002.
