User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008071615 Fedora/3.0.1-1.fc9 Firefox/3.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008071615 Fedora/3.0.1-1.fc9 Firefox/3.0.1 I have a good idea for better firefox UI it's to make middle click assigned to autoscrolling only in the scrollbar region so that it won't interferes with what ever Linux users do with there middle mouse button most people are not aware that firefox do have autoscrolling and even when they know about it, they will disable it back because we need to copy and paste with middle mouse button and we do other things with it http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FWN/Issue138#Firefox_Mouse_Woes middle clicking the scrollbar is not strange it's there in other web browsers like IE and opera and to make Windows users happy this limiting the autoscrolling region should be only defaults in linux ie. instead of having autoscrolling on and off we should have autoscrolling full or smart (or limited) Reproducible: Always
Hmm, doesn't middle-clicking on scrollbars usually do something else on Linux? Like "scroll so that the scrollbar thumb is _here_?"
Summary: RFE: smart autoscrolling by middle click on scrollbar → Middle-clicking on scrollbar should start autoscroll even when autoscroll is disabled for middle-clicking elsewhere
I did know before, but yes you are right but that also work with CTRL+middle click on scroll bar so you are suggesting having tree choices instead of autoscrolling on/off 1. full 2. smart 3. off another suggestion is that **smart** autoscrolling should be activated by middle click on any non-assigned region like 1. scroll bar 2. non-text entry box (single or multitine) in the web page as long as 2.1. no hyperlink is hovered if load link into a background tab is assign to middle click 2.2. no text is selected if load selection url into a background tab is assign to middle click
