any time you make workflow confidential you confuse everyone and get questions like "how do i get X from A to B".

that's not true, before workflow existed the workflow was public as part of field status now it's a secret.

An idea comes to mind. We could use webdot to generate a graph automatically, as we do with showdependencygraph.cgi, and have it in page.cgi?id=fields.html#status.

  Oh, that's a great idea, yeah. Let's do that, if we implement this. We should probably put it in an iframe or something though so that generating it doesn't stop the rest of the page from loading. Or cache the image for a while, or something.
