The new design has less whitespace in the left column. This makes it much harder for me to read who the assignee is. Previously, I was able to take a glance and see. Now I have to look hard in a sea of text, combo boxes, and things that look like text boxes but really aren't (bug 452734).
Please add some whitespace for my eyes. I look at way too many bugs in a day and this just makes me squint.

What looks ":-( more crowded" to one user could look ":-) more compact" to another. IMHO this is a good candidate for a pref (or a choice of skin, but the right skin doesn't exist yet).

We are not going to add prefs for everything which you don't like. You already suggested to add prefs for a half dozen bugs, which will never happen.

Two or three, perhaps; not half a dozen, and in this case, as I said, it could be fixed by a new skin, and from what I read in the release notes, new skins _are_ going to happen.

I agree that in Classic, things look a little too compact. In Dusk, things actually look OK to me. (The spacing is the same, but the colors help visually distinguish UI elements.)
I think that pyrzak may even have had more whitespace between elements in an earlier mockup, and we could add a bit more, particularly in the Product/Component/Version/Platform block and the block below it.

adds a spacer as well as ids and classes all over to help with skinning in the near future to add more spacing where needed. Also adds ids to the spacers so they can be made smaller if needed.

fix for spacing v1
All I see are a bunch of HTML changes with no CSS changes.
Also, no need to change anything about the spacers between the sections--those are fine.

Okay. But just INCLUDE them instead of re-setting spacer_id at the end of every one.

Max, any update there? I like that there's a patch, but I'm sad that it's not reviewed or checked in. ;)

All this patch does is add classes and ids? I don't see any CSS changes?

Bugzilla 6.0 will ship with the new modal UI created for BMO, so this is no longer the case.
