User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1 When I close Firefox (like after doing some Banking or other confidential things) on re-opening Firefox the area which would normally have my "custom" Bookmarks is blank and the Bookmarks folder is empty. Other functions also don't work. Rebooting the PC takes care of the problem, but it happens again each time I close Firefox and try to re-open. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.open Firefox, browse, shut down Firefox and try to open again. 2. 3. Actual Results: Bookmarks disappear Expected Results: should open with all the same tools in toolbars

do you use any antivirus software? Norton?
Also, try starting firefox in Safe Mode.
(In reply to comment #1) > do you use any antivirus software? Norton? Yes, why, is Firefox now NOT compatible with Norton?
(In reply to comment #2) > Also, try starting firefox in Safe Mode. to get to Safe mode requires a reboot or boot-up, in which case Firefox will work, as i said in my original message.

And Bob, starting Firefox in Safe Mode does not require a re-boot of the computer. simply follow the instructions at http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
