Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; de; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1
Build Identifier: Version 2.0.0.16 (20080708)

Like in the personal adressbook all entries should be displayed when opening the adresbook. Maybe thunderbird could search for a "." or a * by default.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install a (active directory) ldap adresbook
2. goto adresbook
3. choose the ldap server
4. see nothing
5. type a "." into the search field
6. see all entries
Actual Results:
it works when you manualy type a "."

Expected Results:
automaticly search for a ".", because every mail addres must have one.

have a look at the contactsidebar extension. It allways looks for a *. Maybe that could be a solution.
There some extension exist for such thing. Sorry can't remember name
Pretty sure you're thinking of Contacts Sidebar, Nikolay:

no. i don't think of an extension.

I only want the standard contact list to view all ldap contacts by default an not by manual entering of a search string that matches all entries like ".".

the personal adress book allready does that. why not the ldap to?
But its solves your problem, I don't believe this gona included in TB3
