User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; pl; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1 Creative ZENcast v1.02.11 Build Identifier: 3.0a2 (2008072418) I have multiple in/out email accounts, trying to send mail from account different than default causes mail to be sent from default account. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.open Thunderbird 2.enter main protection password (enter once, on other modal windows do not enter - click ok) (not sure if relevant) 3.open new message window, enter message 4.choose different account to send from than the default one 5.send mail Actual Results: message is saved in SENT folder of chosen account but is sent from default one Expected Results: message should be saved in SENT folder of chosen account and message should be sent from the chosen account
If those accounts are Gmail accounts and you are using them with the same SMTP server (i.e., of your default Gmail account), it receives the "From:" address of that default account. > message is saved in SENT folder of chosen account but is sent from default one This would support that assumption, the correct account was apparently picked by Thunderbird, but then the SMTP server on Gmail's side reverted it to the primary authenticated account. This can be avoided by either allowing the other accounts to send from your Gmail account (which is a Gmail setting), or to associate the corresponding SMTP server settings with matching user names for each account. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_Gmail_with_Thunderbird_and_Mozilla_Suite specifically "Troubleshooting and Gmail quirks" for more information. Please report back if this resolves the issue or if further problems persist after clearing up any SMTP server issues.
I have about 5 accounts of which 2 are gmail accounts. Gmail is the default one. But I got the problem when trying to send from other smtp (non gmail) server.
Ok, I found source of the problem. In SMTP account settings there seems to be option: 'Outgoing Server' which was set to gmail. I can't see purpose of this option. Unfortunatelly I don't know how to properly set the outgoing server. I have set 'server name' to "ghost.somedomain.com" (this is my outgoing serer address) when my mail address is "username@somedomain.com" and only "somedomain.com" appears on the list of available SMTP servers.
You can add another one, and select in the account setting of the specific account/identity which one to use. You can get help in the Thunderbird support forums, e.g. here: <http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=39> ->INVALID
