I use a sound & popup to alert me when I recive new mail. In the last few days I have been getting FALSE alerts of new incoming emails.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Startup as normal
2.Messages down load as normal alert sound & popup as normal
3.Secheduled downlaod every 10 minutes alert sound & popup as normal EVEN WHEN THERE ARE NO NEW EMAILS
Actual Results:  
1.Startup as normal
2.Messages down load as normal alert sound & popup as normal
3.Secheduled downlaod every 10 minutes alert sound & popup as normal EVEN WHEN THERE ARE NO NEW EMAILS
4 Checked seting in BOTH options & accounts nothuing unusual all as befor last update
5 Closed & restarted incase it was just a systems glitch still happening

Expected Results:  
The gost alert is stillocring.

Only alerted when new emails actuall arrive in the inbox

1. Are you using IMAP or POP? If POP, are you using the global inbox feature?
2. Do you have spam filtering enabled? Any active filters?
3. What does the new mail alert say?

Answeres to the above

1. POP
2. SPAM FILTERING YES - CHECKED AN NOTHING THERE
3. ITs JUST THE STANDARD PING AND POPUP IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT HAND OF THE SCREEN

It is now happening with every scheduled check for new messages.

Anyways, what I meant by question 3 was "What is the content of the new mail alert" -- are the same messages appearing in the alert?

Sorry din't mean to shout it was just to show things more cleraly its a practice that I use with the trainees to marke my comments etc. I would have put them in italic if it had been avalable.

re qu3 thers nothing there at all no new message, no new junk

4 = No I try to read my messages as they come in the is some times th occational read message that needs replying to but not very offten most the messages adr deleted or replied to as soom as they are nread.

I also use Thunderbird as News Group Reader NNTP from AutoDesk, could thid have some bearing on the problem ??

I've just done a manuall "Get Mail" with some unread mesgaes in the inbox Nothing happened, ie no popup & no sound alert. 

So I guess that's unread messages ruled out as a trigger for the problem.

I am seeing a similar issue. When I start shredder, it automatically begins downloading the e-mails. When they have downloaded, the new mail pop-up appears, so far, all is good. Then, I click "Get Mail" to get the rest of my accounts, and then shrink Shredder to work on FF. Almost immediately, a duplicate new mail window appears.

Tyler, you might not want to dupe to an unconfirmed bug, unless you can't find another one that is already confirmed. OTOH, if you don't - why not confirm this one?  (despite my dupe hint)
