If I drag the folder pane (left-most pane) divider all the way to the left side to hide it, it re-appears after quitting then starting Thunderbird again. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1b1pre) Gecko/20081001 Shredder/3.0b1pre

This doesn't happen in Thunderbird 2.0 (version 2.0.0.16 (20080723)). It's annoying enough that it's stopping me using Shredder.

Perhaps jminta knows how to change this. Does folder pane have a min-width on startup? Because after dragging far left and I restart it's open just 1 inch. But, if I touch the divider even just a little, it slams left. But perhaps it's a mute point until the folder picker is fixed? bug 473009 I'll assume it's semi-blocker for this use case. Use case: When I've eliminated the folder pane, it's been because I'm using a laptop and I want to get the full screen width for the thread pane. I really like it. Probably more people would if they knew they could do this or if it were available as one of the view selections - and they would complain about this bug :) cc: asuth in case it factors into his refactoring
Depends on: 473009

I think this may be currently caused or fixed by bug 466697. Seems like a bug though. I'm sure I've said that I don't really like how the folder pane currently collapses however I think there are a number of things to try. Like bug 340982 comment #8

WFM with current trunk. Can you still reproduce?

I did more attempts and I did see it twice out of about 10 tries, so there must be some combo of steps/number of tabs that tweaks it

howdy Wayne Mery, i presume the "Lee" above is aimed at me since i don't remember subscribing to this bug. [*grin*] on a clean profile in tb17.0.2 i cannot reproduce this. nor can i reproduce this in my default, fairly tweaked profile. that applies with all the selections under view/layout. closed via file/exit, alt-f4, and the big red x. repeated a nice round dozen times and the folder pane stays shut at each restart. the only thing that is even slightly odd is the way the folder pane slams shut when i get the right edge of it close to the right edge of the default account name. my other account names are shorter, so i am unsure if that is the actual trigger. that happens in all profiles. it's quite disconcerting, but not part of this bug. again, the folder pane stays shut for me over the dozen times i tried open-folder-pane, restart, close-folder-pane, restart. take care, lee
