Details

With Caret Browsing (F7) you can move the caret through the message with all the normal keys (up, down, left, right, pgup, pgdown, home, end) and use ctrl to magnify most actions. With shift pressed down, you can start a selection, so shift+down selects a line. I would think you could also select a letter by pressing shift+right (or deselect an already selected letter with shift+left), but this doesn't work. I can select a whole word, with shift+ctrl+right, but not a single letter. This does work in Fifrefox 2, but not in Thunderbird 2.
This seems to be fixed in Shredder. I couldn't find a bug for it, but it`s fixed all the same.
WFM, then: there's no way a fix for that would be accepted on the stable branch, and whatever the fix between Tb2 and Tb3 was, it's likely to be hidden away in some core selection or event handling rewrite.
