The addition of mouse gestures to Firefox would see users who are comfortable using Opera possibly migrate over to Firefox. Gestures such as forward and backward page navigation, as well as the ability to close the current tab, all with the mouse would be a great improvement to an already great browser.

The bug you said this was a duplicate of was related to SeaMonkey, not Firefox. I believe that, although an add-on is available, some people may prefer not to use third-party add-ons with their browser, for security or speed concerns.

Therefore, this is not a duplicate of the other bug, merely a suggested enhancement for Firefox.
Given SeaMonkey tends to be more feature rich than Firefox I thought it would survive as the page has more explanation as well, well bug 172179 is the Firefox version of the bug.

This is a well discussed design proposal for Firefox and it has been long decided that it's not appropriate. To add it, you'd probably have to convince one of the project developers it was a good idea, but Firefox is supposed to be around basic functionality and usability, with extensions to add on to that as the user chooses.

But if you think you have a good design proposal with no ideas you could always suggest it over at mozilla.dev.apps.firefox which can be accessed at:

with new ideas, I meant to say
