It would be nice to have preferences that would make double-clicking open up mailboxes and messages in tabs rather than separate windows. It could be just one pref for both types of windows, but I would imagine that there are some users who might want to have one type open in tabs and the other open in separate windows. It should also still remain possible to open up the mailboxes/messages in a way different from the setting, primarily via right-click context menus.
Yes! Personally I prefer to have just *one* window for my mail, so I can move it around or to the Dock as a whole, but I know there are folks who prefer the opposite.
It just struck me that the compose window (when creating a new mail) is typically a new window. Again, an option to have new compose windows open in tabs would be perfect.

Being able to open messages AND mailboxes inside the program would be nice, but this would be of little use to me if the open messages were not saved and re-opened just as I left them after closing the program. This is one of the things that made Eudora such a great program. Also, the ability to resize each message or mailbox to the size that I want. This allows me to be able to see more than one thing at a time each in it's own window WITHIN the program, close the program, reopen it and have everything just as I left it. Now, that's Eudora. I wonder if we'll ever have that ability again. :(

For those with initiative, this bug is fixed in the Penelope hg source code depot: <http://hg.mozilla.org/penelope/rev/47b07e9c13c0>. Otherwise you'll have to wait until the next release, Eudora 8 beta 5/Penelope 0.5a2.

The tab restore workes about 3 times. After that it closes again and wont restore any more. Reinstalling the beta 5 didn't solve that. so it is still buggy
