A new Firefox profile includes a link to the "Getting started" page on the Bookmarks toolbar. The objective of this page is to provide the users with a few task-based starting points. They could use them to enjoy the web and discover sites that will help them get the most out of Firefox, and the Internet in general. This page will be aimed towards beginning and intermediate Web users. We want to promote community/user oriented collaborative sites with good user experience in your region and language, and good standards support. The current en-US defaults for this page are: The 'Work' category: Google Docs, Remember the Milk, LinkedIn, Clipmarks Add-on The 'Learn' category: Wikipedia, Topix, HowStuffWorks.com, Answers Add-on The 'Play' category: YouTube, Hype Machine, Miro, PicLens Add-on The 'Connect' category: Criagslist, Yelp, Facebook, Me.dium Add-on (See the en-US page at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/central/.) We would like to provide a good set of links on this page for our Estonian users. First, the localization team and Stas (Stas Malolepszy) will look at the market for your language and come up with a good candidates. Sander, we'll need your input on this, of course. The guidelines for making recommendations are on https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox_web_services_guidelines. Second, once we have a good list of candidates, your localization team will localize the 'Getting Started' index.html file which can be found here: http://viewvc.svn.mozilla.org/vc/projects/mozilla.com/trunk/en-US/firefox/central/index.html?revision=18714&content-type=text%2Fplain changing the en-US default as agreed in the first step. The logos should be named sites-<sitename>.png and should be 110px wide and 65px high on white or transparent background. Stas can help on getting the logos from the website owners. The localized index.html and the logos should be then attached in a ZIP archive to this bug, and a review should be requested from Stas (stas@mozilla.com) and Pascal (pascalc@gmail.com). Once the review have been granted, Pascal will take over to push the localized page on the server. Thank you.

Work: Google Docs, ?, ?, ? Learn: Wikipedia (et), news.station.ee?, kuidas.ee, ? Play: YouTube, muusika24.ee, www.boms.ee, ? Connect: ?, ?, Orkut, ? Merike, any morea ideas?
(In reply to comment #1) > Work: Google Docs, ?, ?, ? Don't know about other people but among IT people LinkedIn seems to be somewhat popular here too. > Learn: Wikipedia (et), news.station.ee?, kuidas.ee, ? > Play: YouTube, muusika24.ee, www.boms.ee, ? How about last.fm? > Connect: ?, ?, Orkut, ? Alexa reports Facebook rather popular. > > Merike, any morea ideas? One more comes to mind: kuhuminna.ee for those who are looking for places and events (movies, theatre, sports etc) to go to. Not sure if and where it would fit though.
Sander, can you briefly describe the websites you suggested, please? Unfortunately, I'm afraid I can't read Estonian (yet) :) (In reply to comment #2) > One more comes to mind: kuhuminna.ee for those who are looking for places and > events (movies, theatre, sports etc) to go to. Not sure if and where it would > fit though. That might sound like a Yelp/Qype equivalent, so I would suggest putting it in "Connect".
Sander, Merike, thanks for your suggestions. Can you help me by providing short descriptions of some of the sites you proposed (noted below)? Currently the suggestions are as follows: Work * Google Docs --> stays * Remember the Milk --> stays? * LinkedIn --> stays * Clipmarks Add-on Learn * Wikipedia --> Wikipedia (et) * Topix --> news.station.ee? (can you provide more info about this site, please?) * HowStuffWorks --> kuidas.ee? (ditto) * Answers Add-on Play * YouTube --> stays * Hype Machine --> last.fm / muusika24.ee? (is this an mp3 store?) * Miro --> boms.ee? (I see it's a media store. What can you buy there?) * PicLens Add-on Connect * Craigslist --> stays? (any popular social sites, classified ads or forum sites you would recommend here?) * Yelp --> kuhuminna.ee * Facebook -> stays? / Orkut * Me.dium Add-on Thanks!
Work * Google Docs * Remember the Milk --> stays --- don't know any better * LinkedIn --> stays * Clipmarks Add-on Learn * Wikipedia --> Wikipedia (et) * Topix --> news.station.ee? --- this site collects news feeds (rss, atom, etc), alternative would be blog.tr.ee - people can add their blog, and after that this site will include their feed too, mostly personal blogs * HowStuffWorks --> kuidas.ee (ditto) * Answers Add-on Play * YouTube * Hype Machine --> last.fm / muusika24.ee --- yes, this is mp3 store * Miro --> boms.ee? --- on that site you can watch some latest tv shows and other stuff for free but there are also some content you may buy (music, movies) * PicLens Add-on Connect * Craigslist --> stays? --- i don't like this site, but i have no good ideas either.. Merike? * Yelp --> kuhuminna.ee * Orkut * Me.dium Add-on

Thanks. > * Craigslist --> stays? --- i don't like this site, but i have no good ideas > either.. Merike? I don't think there's much content for Estonians on craigslist. I would like to find a replacement for it. How about http://www.kultuur.info/ ? I know it's not a craigslist kind of site, but I think it delivers a relevant content to Estonian users and fits nicely in the 'Connect' category.
(In reply to comment #6) > > * HowStuffWorks --> kuidas.ee (ditto) > > Can you describe what kuidas.ee is? It has different types of howto's. for example at the moment recent howto's include "How to keep Xbox 360 cool", "How to avoid injuries when moving heavy objects", "How to avoid the issue of unknown keys" (you haven't got a clue which lock they unlock). > > Play > > > > * YouTube > > * Hype Machine --> last.fm / muusika24.ee --- yes, this is mp3 store > > Can you listen to music for free there, too? You can listen to 30 seconds examples. There are two tracks given free to registered users at the moment but this isn't generally the case as far as I can tell. > > * Craigslist --> stays? --- i don't like this site, but i have no good ideas > > either.. I just realised that we could use this category to advertise eesti.ee (http://www.eesti.ee/eng/) that connects you to many useful e-services. In Estonia you can check the results of state exams, apply for uni, declare your taxes and start a company without leaving home. And there are many more ways to query information about yourself.

I like last.fm for all social features it has, like recommendations and discussions about the music. I know it's not localized to Estonian, but I believe that it still shows the potential of Web better than a regular mp3 store. We can have 4 links in this category if you like it too.

Yeah, I think we have a god set of links right now. Thanks for your suggestions! A quick re-cap: Work * Google Docs * Remember the Milk * LinkedIn * Clipmarks Add-on Learn * Wikipedia --> Wikipedia (et) * Topix --> news.station.ee * HowStuffWorks --> kuidas.ee * Answers Add-on Play * YouTube * Hype Machine --> last.fm * Miro --> boms.ee * PicLens Add-on Connect * Craigslist --> eesti.ee * (new link) kultuur.info * Yelp --> kuhuminna.ee * Facebook --> Orkut * Me.dium Add-on Let me know if you need any help with getting the logo images for the websites. Feel free to attach the HTML file in the web parts bug. I'll close this one once the file is ready. Thanks!
Hi, the file is ready and uploaded. Can we go on with these things? :P I wanna be ready for 3.0.7 (=
the image for the Medium add-on is missing
this seems to be Mozilla's bug, de has no image either: http://de.www.mozilla.com/de/firefox/central/#feature-connect
the image for cooliris is wrong, please change it :) also me.dium is linking to wrong extension :/
The image was probably removed from the server by error, I am going to investigate
Sander, the Me.dium extension no longer exists, we are going to look for a replacement for all locales that kept it.
Ok. We translated the description of Shareaholic Add-on: Shareaholic Add-on -> Laiendus Shareaholic The ultimate add-on for the link sharing junkie! -> Eriti äge laiendus linkide jagamise sõltlasele! + icon change for Shareaholic and Cooliris + link change for Shareaholic and then this page should be OK!

Cooliris has still wrong icon (some cache problems?) And one more question: firefox has wrong bookmark title at the moment (still "Getting Started"). It should be "Alustamisjuhend", do i have to add patch?
Confirming comment 22. It's not a cache problem. Line 109 in the index.html [1] still refers to sites-piclens.png, while it should refer to sites-cooliris.png. [1] http://viewvc.svn.mozilla.org/vc/projects/mozilla.com/trunk/et/firefox/central/index.html?annotate=22161#l109

I am going to fix the icon link. For the bookmark title, that's a product l10n issue (new profile?), you should see with Pike about it.
(In reply to comment #22) > And one more question: firefox has wrong bookmark title at the moment (still > "Getting Started"). It should be "Alustamisjuhend", do i have to add patch? http://mxr.mozilla.org/l10n-central/source/et/browser/profile/bookmarks.inc#19 I'm not entirely sure if you'll need an approval to fix this in 3.0.x (since Estonian is still in beta). Mind filing a new bug and providing a patch just to be on the safe side? Thanks.
That's in bookmarks.inc, http://mxr.mozilla.org/l10n-mozilla1.9.1/source/et/browser/profile/bookmarks.inc?mark=19#17. Note, to get this fixes tested, you need to test on a new profile, existing bookmarks are not updated.
i'm a bit lost now :P fx3.0 should be in cvs tree, right? but in my cvs tree i have bookmarks.html :/ from where can i find that bookmarks.inc? (=
Can this bug be marked as fixed?
Yes, everything is OK now :)
Great! Thanks Merike ans Sander!
