User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.8.1.17) Gecko/20080829 SeaMonkey/1.1.12 (Ubuntu-1.1.12+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1) Mnenhy/0.7.6.0 Build Identifier: Seamonkey addons site, after 15.Nov.2008 When you go to the addons.mozilla.org ,using Seamonkey browser, you get https://addons.mozilla.org/ja/seamonkey/ as start page and you should get https://addons.mozilla.org/en/seamonkey/ English international page instead. This might be a reason for lower traffic on Seamonkey portion of addons.mozilla.org because most people are thinking that maybe it is Japanese-only page and move on. Please correct Default displaying page, before selecting language to English as default! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start Seamonkey 2.go to addons.mozilla.org 3.Japaneese page is displayed by default https://addons.mozilla.org/ja/seamonkey/ instead of English one by default: https://addons.mozilla.org/en/seamonkey/ Actual Results: Japaneese default addons page for Seamonkey is displayed: https://addons.mozilla.org/ja/seamonkey/ Expected Results: English default addons page for Seamonkey should be displayed: https://addons.mozilla.org/en/seamonkey/ I consider this issue to be blocker for Seamonkey users and stoper for new users trying to find addons for Seamonkey. Please fix this minor but very important bug, as soon as possible!
What are your language preferences in Firefox? That's in the preferences dialog -> Content -> Languages. Mine are, in order, en-US, en, de. Depending on how Japanese ranks in your list there, this may not be a bug.
Pretty confident this isn't a bug and it's just the locale settings of their browser. 1) it works fine for me in seamonkey 2) it's the same language detection as firefox
(In reply to comment #3) > Pretty confident this isn't a bug and it's just the locale settings of their > browser. I agree: What I am trying to figure out is if it is WFM or a dupe of bug 439568.
My preferences in Seamonkey are (in this order) [us], English [en], Japanese [ja], Chinese/Taiwan [zh-tw], etc.. But That is when I use Seamonkey that user is redirected to Japanese addons.mozilla.org. But is I use Firefox and go to https://addons.mozilla.org/seamonkey I experimented a bit with language settings order in Seamonkey. My conclusion is that [us] language have no affect on that what language is displayed. And [us] is default language upon install.. If English [en] is displayed above Japanese [ja] and there is no other Language above [en] ([us] has no affect at all) then Japanese is displayed. Also it is strange that [us] has no affect.. When I do the same in Firefox 3, if English/United States [en-us] is on the first place, then English page is displayed. But if English [en] (is on first place) and then Japanese [ja] (on second place) then Japanese page is displayed. Therefore, it smells like the bug bug 439568

(In reply to comment #5) > Also it is strange that [us] has no affect.. Just as a side note, as far as I know, "us" is not a language. The real bug is that "en" doesn't forward to our en-US site, which you identified correctly as bug 439568, thanks!
