next step reboot thunderbird->open addressbook->Tools->Export->my-address-book.ldif

and see not change value

This bug *has* been fixed by bug 119948. I wrote the code to that bug. I have tested this on the Thunderbird 3 preview builds and it works fine. It will not be fixed on the Thunderbird 2 builds as they are only modified for security issues.
