we did this as part of 3.0.0.* compat work and we should be ready to do it again to raise compat numbers for 3.1b2 and upcoming 3.1 releases

Just checked every one of the above links.  A couple of them 404; all of the rest claim compatibility with at least 3.6 if not 4.0, with one exception:
