Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008102920 Firefox/3.0.4 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier: wersja 2.0.0.18 (20081105)

Thunderbird doesn't remember my IMAP password, I always check 'remember this password', but it doesn't work. I can't even access the password manager to see what's going on. When I click edit saved passwords, a window pops up and immediately disappears.
If I set a master password I can access the password manager and if I remove it the issue seems to be fixed. But after some time the thing happens again, so I have to set a master password and delete it every once in a while. This is really annoying.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. set a master password
2. send some e-mails
3. delete master password
4. send some e-mails (shoudln't remember your password at this point)
5. try to access password manager (pops up and disappears)

Actual Results:
can't access password manager, Thunderbird doesn't remember my password (though it is actually saved)

Expected Results:
it should just work ;)

I saw there where some problems with IMAP access to gmail, though I'm not using gmail account, so it's not the case
I'm using polish version of Thunderbird
I've also noticed one strange thing: when the password manager was blocked I sent a few e-mails, and I had to type my password a few times, every once I checked this remember checkbox, and when I unblocked password manager there was the same password for smtp saved a few times, though the address and everything was identical
I'm using Thunderbird version 2.0.0.18
Version: unspecified → 2.0
Maciej,

We recently changed the way password were handled in Tunderbird 3. Could you try Thunderbird 3 beta 2 (http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/early_releases/downloads/) and tell us if you still have the issue.

ok, I've just updated to beta 4 and everything seems alright for now, I'm using the same profile and it doesn't ask for password needlessly,
though in the past it didn't happen all the time, but only sometimes, so it might be better to wait a while to see if it won't broke at some point in the future...
I'm having issues with this too, starting with Thunderbird 2.0.0.21 and still occurring in 2.0.0.23. I had changed the password for a hotmail account. Tools->Options->Privacy->Edit Saved Passwords doesn't work; I get a flash of a window but it doesn't stay open.
Looks like bug 121647 to me.
