Ever confirmed: true
Summary: Thunderbird should auto detect the root folder for Imap Account → Thunderbird should auto detect the root folder for Imap Account on laposte.net
Yes, that's the way some imap mail servers organize their folders. All the folders actually are sub-folders of the INBOX. If you want Thunderbird to display all the sub-folders of the inbox as top-level folders, you can go into the advanced imap server settings for that account and set the online directory to "INBOX.". We could try to hide the way your imap server works from you, and perhaps we should...in theory, it should be fairly easy, but the personal namespace/online directory handling code is a little fragile, since we have to do the translation between what we display to the user and what the imap server expects.
The problem is that it is quite disturbing for an average user, and very difficult to solve cause it is really unfriendly and undocumented... If something could be done automaticaly , it would be very nice. Another popular french ISP is concerned: Free.fr (I could create another test account if needed).
Summary: Thunderbird should auto detect the root folder for Imap Account on laposte.net → Thunderbird should auto detect the root folder for Imap Account (IMAP Server Directory "INBOX.")
dupe of bug 80858? or at least blocking bug 160644?
Blocks: 160644
yes to both, though there's a lot of cruft in bug 80858...I guess I'll mark it a dup anyway, thx.
