Upon receiving an email message in Thunderbird, and upon viewing it there and clicking on a link therein, i.e. a link to a file, Thunderbird begins downloading that file while displaying its "Downloads" window.  However, that window remains blank during and after the download, even though the download progresses and finishes with no problems.

Note that this is happening in Thunderbird.  There is already much discussion of a blank "Downloads" window when using Firefox, but this particular problem is happening using Thunderbird, and the fixes for Firefox concerning this problem do not work for Thunderbird.
