Details

A need has been identified to split discussion of security and CA policy from technical implementation (dev.security and dev.tech.crypto). Please great a new newsgroup/mailing list/Google Group triad called mozilla.dev.security.policy. Thanks, Gerv
And over to Dave for implementation. Gerv

generally should send these to server-ops@mozilla-org.bugs instead of me directly these days...

Who is going to moderate this list?
Currently, hecker moderates dev-security, while MisterSSL moderates dev-tech-crypto.
Does every list have a moderator? Perhaps Frank will consent; CCing him. Gerv
(In reply to comment #5) > Does every list have a moderator? Yes, even if the list isn't moderated. Some lists default to list-admin@, which is justdave, but we try our very best to assign somebody-not-justdave to each list to handle any list-specific issues. > Perhaps Frank will consent; CCing him. Lists can have multiple moderators, so it could be hecker and MisterSSL. ;)

Whiteboard: waiting on Giganews/Google
If you need an extra editor, holler.
I've made Johnath the moderator for now. He's free to add/remove others. Giganews has added it. Just waiting on Google now.

When did you put it in mailman? Google's stuff is automatic, it should show up shortly after midnight PST the night after you set it up in mailman. Unless the newsgroups.txt generation script got broken on the last mailman upgrade...
Just verified, our newsgroups.txt does contain it. Did it just get set up today?
(In reply to comment #10) > Just verified, our newsgroups.txt does contain it. Did it just get set up > today? No, it was set up the night of 2009-01-26. Google Groups just underwent a code upgrade, so wonder if something is broken on their side.
Sorry for coming in late to this... Did this new m.d.security.policy group actually get created? I don't see it in TB or the Google Groups web site.
I see it in TB and have just subscribed to it; don't forget to refresh your list. Gerv
If there is a corresponding mailing list for this newsgroup, it does not appear in https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo Johnathan, I'd be happy to supply you with all the configuration info for the dev-tech-crypto mailing list, in case you want to use the same features for anti-spam purposes in this new list.
(In reply to comment #14) > If there is a corresponding mailing list for this newsgroup, it does not > appear in https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo AIUI, Reed will unhide it when all three venues are up (and this bug will be marked fixed). Right now, it's not on Google Groups, so announcing this list to the world will cause some confusion and lack of archiving.
I'm seeing discussion in mozilla.dev.tech.crypto concerning when to start using this list. Just because it's set up on lists.mozilla.org and news.mozilla.org doesn't mean it should be used yet. We're still waiting on some issues at Google to be resolved before opening the list, as it's still not set up on Google Groups yet, so please don't try to use it until that's been resolved. Thanks!
http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.dev.security.policy/topics says it exists now, but it's not showing my test message and some other messages.
Ok, justdave still hasn't gotten any reply from Google yet, but Google Groups seems to be working now, so I've unhid the list.
