Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; fr; rv:1.9.1b3pre) Gecko/20081204 Thunderbird/3.0b1
When I want to assign a label to a message, the keyboard shortcut (0,1...9) does not work if you use the alphabetic keyboard
if you use the numeric keypad it works or if you use the mouse in the menu
In version 2 this was always working
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.select a message
2.press 1 in alphabetic keyboard: nothing happens
or
3.press 1 in numeric keypad: the label becomes IMPORTANT and the background becomes red
Expected Results:
in the two situations, label should become IMPORTANT, not only with the numeric keypad
this happens also in safe-mode
I use a french keyboard layout

I suppose that caps num was set on you keyboard ?
yes it was
I operate the same way than with thunderbird 2
with vs 2 all works, with vs 3 beta1 only numeric keypad works
maybe the application use the scancode of the key pressed rather than the ascii code?

improve somewhat vague summary. BTW, the new terminology is tags.
I believe this is a dupe of bug 448289, which is also a trunk regression if the bug keywords are correct.
