Tried latest trunk? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-trunk/

But a firefox build from mozilla.org works? Note: not one from your distro, as compile flags are likely involved and those are likely not the same.
Version: 2.0 → Trunk
I think you misunderstand the issue. CTL missing in thunderbird2.x.x and thunderbird3 Beta as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complex_text_layout best regards

Yes I understood that. The reason I ask if it works in a mozilla.org build of firefox is that the code to support it is more than likely shared code with firefox - so if there's some bug, it's probably just a difference in build flags.
I know of only one e-mail client under mozilla. the problem is with Thunderbird Rich-Editor. other text editor such Medit, Genay, Kate, gvim, OpenOffice writer does not have this problem.

Those are not relevant, only firefox, e.g. editing in http://www.mozilla.org/editor/midasdemo/ Does the MOZ_ENABLE_PANGO=1 instruction work for you? See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Enabling_complex_text_support_for_Indic_scripts ... under Gnome.

again i think you misunderstand the issue completely. that http://www.mozilla.org/editor/midasdemo/ is the same editor with thunderbird editor. comeback to Thunderbird issue:), Firefox is webbrowser and my question have nothing to do with Firefox options absolutely. "THE THUNDERBIRD EDITOR IS UNABLE TO USE COMPLEX TEXT LAYOUT" failed this icon or button in Thunderbird editor: http://www.google.com/mail/help/images/screenshots/html_compose/rtl_icon.gif ** Right to left* - changes the directionality of text composing text align *Right to Left* isn't enough for CTL. best regards

So your issue has nothing to do with the post you linked to originally? And it is a request for a rtl button in the compose UI? I believe http://bidiui.mozdev.org/ gives you that... and there's bug 464436 open for it too - if that's the case, please mark this as a duplicate of bug 464436.

no, i didn't duplicate the Bug, because are lots of bugs reported in this issue. nobody has written about CTL. although the problem is ((( Unsported CTL format in Thunderbird editor)). in another Webeditor like the Gmail you can enable it in Settings>>more language>> Right to Left support. after them you have this button ^^ and you can write Complex texts. in OpenOffice Writer is Disabled as Default you need go to: Tools > Options > Language Settings > Language and mark Enabled for complex text layout (CTL) and worked. best regards
