Build Identifier: Thunderbird/2.0.0.19
I would like to see the possibility to have only standard ldap scheme elements to be used in the ldap addressbooks. I would like to have multiple ldap contact system be able to read and write the same date with only the standard scheme elements.
For example: icedove (Mozilla Thunderbird) has its own ldap scheme, GNOME evolution also has its own ldap scheme, this makes it impossible create full interoperability between the ldap contact systems, with is a must for a good enterprise collaboration system. I also can't copy paste local addressbooks to ldap addressbooks because the interoperability between ldap schemes.
Please make it possible to only read, write and show the default supported ldap schemes to guarantee interoperability without the need of custom ldap schemes.

Not all the existing schemas provide the fields we need. However, the bug for the schema work is bug 116692.

As you've already picked up, the writeable ldap bug is bug 86405.

and here, you'll see that you can modify Thunderbird's behavior in the manner you require.
Therefore I think the only things you are really asking for that isn't directly covered are improvements to the current default schema to bring it closer to the standard ones, which would easily be covered in bug 116692 when development of the schema continues.
Therefore resolving this bug as invalid as its not quite a duplicate of bug 116692 or the others mentioned, but the work is either already covered by existing bugs or should be handled in existing bugs.
