When I load this page, I get a whole series of warnings about a window being
moved to an offscreen position.
screenWidth and screenHeight are 1280x1024 (which is the physical resolution of
my screen). Note that I have an 8-screen desktop (4 wide by 2 high). The
window is trying to be positioned at 306,4003. This doesn't sound like it's a
desktop screen issue, since my screens are only 2048 high. I was running
Mozilla on the second-from-the-left-top-row screen (i.e. one right of the upper
left screen).
I have a GDB backtrace and dump of objects and structures. (attachment)
One weird thing is that it seems from the code/backtrace like it thinks there's
a drop-down active; there isn't.

It appears to be combobox at the bottom of the page which causes the assertions.
Reassigning to Rod.

So, wait a sec. Why am I getting this bug? Do we really think that it has
something to do with xptcall?
I don't think so, based on the stack trace, so I'm reassigning back to you,
rods. This looks like a pure layout play, so I'll trust kmcclusk's assignment
instinct.

This is pretty bad, but I think the solution might be too involved
nominating for now.

I should note that when typing into text widgets in places like this, I often
get hundreds or thousands of these messages - a bunch of them for each character
I type.

Also, since you nominated it - care to expand on "pretty bad", and "too
involved"? Those issues seem critical to evaluating whether this is nsbeta3+ or
nsbeta3-. Do you believe you understand what's going on?
qawanted to see if other platforms are seeing these messages.

This is also an issue with Linux, I would nominate it for this next release -

I used to see it constantly everywhere (cnn.com, etc). I now see it rarely
(perhaps not at all). I'll take a look around to see if I can recreate it over
the next day or two.

petersen@netscape.com: could we have a reproducible test case here? the ole URL
doesn't exist any longer?

The testcase gives me a 404 error, and jesup wrote that he couldn't reproduce it
back in january, so based on that I'll go ahead and mark this worksforme.
Feel free to reopen if you have a better testcase that demonstrates that this
bug is still alive.
