Reproducible: Always

I disagree. The current intended behavior is the following: The Today Pane button toggles the Today Pane completely on and off. If it is turned on the grippy is visible and can be used to just collapse/restore the Today Pane. This is useful for users that don't have the status bar enabled. But due to Bug 430090 the Today Pane will always been shown after switching tabs.

Yes, but for users that have enabled status bar grippy and "today pane" button should be sync... I think. Ciao.
Maybe we should just make it impossible to close the today pane by using the grippy. I generally agree with Stefan, the button in the status bar is what should toggle the today pane. This bug will basically fix itself as soon as Thunderbird has a general sidebar, its behavior will probably define the way that the calendar today pane is displayed.

As a measure to reduce the number of issues to a more manageable amount I am closing off this bug because it has been filed before 2010 and is still in the "unconfirmed" state and it has not recently been changed. If this is still an issue, please test with the latest version of Thunderbird and Lightning and comment on the bug, I am happy to reopen it. Thank you for your understanding!
