This seems a bit variable, but reproducible: 1) Go through autoconfig, but make sure username is invalid when editing server details. 2) Have server detected 3) Select create account. At this stage it fails because it can't log in. 4) Then decide to click on "Go to Advanced Configuration" Expected results: Advanced configuration has settings configured so far Actual results: - Username is the email address, not the username supplied. - I've also seen the server name come out as -1.

I've noticed that the user name is not the complete e-mail address but just the user part if you go into advanced configuration before trying Create Account. Are both variants tested during the verification, first without the domain part and then the full address, thus ending up with the full address at the end if both failed?
Ok, to answer my own question, IMAP log shows three attempts (user name, full e-mail address, no user name at all) before it quits, so if you discount the "no user name" case, that's apparently where this observation comes from.
I've just retested this, seems we fixed it at some stage, marking as WFM. Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1pre) Gecko/20090624 Shredder/3.0b3pre
