The new style JAVA plug-in for Linux seems to specify neither a plug-in name nor a description. This results in a blank entry in the add-ons manager. Prior to bug 48818, the pluginreg.dat file used to be built with the filename (not the full path) libnpjp2.so being put into the plug-in name field if the plug-in did not specify any other name. This no longer occurs.
Note the first entry in the screenshot.

Comment on attachment 377891 [details] [diff] [review] Fix 1.0 I backed out bug 488181 so this is no longer necessary. I'll include a fix for this next time. Thanks.
Marking fixed by backout of 488181.
