There's been some confusion about what to define in the "Other" license option when submitting an add-on. This option is chosen when none of the other standard licenses are applicable or favorable to an add-on developer.

For the "Other" option, we should automatically include the following verbiage in the textbox that appears when they choose "Other" from the dropdown. This will be a starting point for add-on developers that choose that option:

"You are free to use the [NAME OF ADDON] with the Mozilla Firefox web browser. All Other Rights Reserved."

Ideally, the add-on's name would be prefilled.
We probably have to figure out how to handle different/multiple app support. So if something supports Thunderbird as well it should say "Mozilla Firefox web browser and Mozilla Thunderbird messaging application"
OS: Mac OS X → All
Hardware: x86 → All
I think this is a dupe of bug 491215.
Yes it looks that way. I think this bug addresses the issues mentioned in the other one. Not sure if we should keep this one open and redirect the other to here.
I'll ask legal if we can change the text.

What about clones of FF (such Iceweasel)? Are they prevented from using a.m.o.? I think not, so I strongly oppose using trademarked browser name in any default texts.
(Sorry about this misplaced "^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^"... I wanted to underline "Mozilla Firefox" in commented text, but I failed... :-))
Text should default to :

You are free to use the [NAME OF ADDON] with any of the applications or services offered by Mozilla. All Other Rights Reserved.

BartZilla- this is editable and only the default 'other' text. If users want to alter this agreement they are more than welcome to do so, but in an All Rights Reserved license we can't speak for projects we represent.

Jeff- setting this as P3. If you can get to it, awesome. Otherwise we'll make it P2 in 5.0.8.
Priority: -- → P3
Pushing non-contribution bugs to 5.0.8.
Target Milestone: 5.0.7 → 5.0.8

this only provides the default for en-US, so it's not tranlated

this only provides the default for en-US since we don't translate legal text

better initial text for the "Other" license

I know that's what Nick wrote but I don't think "the" should be in "free to use the".

Also, can we prefill [NAME OF ADDON]?

This screen comes before the upload screen, so we don't know anything about the add-on.
