This fixes up the equivalent of bug 496917 for 3.5rc1 build1. I've run this on moz2-linux-slave19 after it blew out with an ssh problem, and it generates snippets with 'appv=3.5' for all channels. If this looks OK, I suggest this lands and the updates builder is rerun to guarantee we're using what's in CVS (today has been a bit chaotic).

Bug 498273 for the long term fix.
