User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US) AppleWebKit/531.0 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/3.0.187.1 Safari/531.0 Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.21 (20090302) I frequently experience crashes when trying to send mail from Thunderbird via our office Exchange server. It doesn't do it on all messages, but the ones that do crash it do so repeatedly. It seems like it involves attachments, but I can't be sure. The email that I had today that crashed it worked when sent through another non-Exchange SMTP server. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.New message 2.Add attachment 3 [review].Send Actual Results: Crash immediately after sending status dialog appears Expected Results: Email sent successfully Talkback never appears. I only get the Vista message saying the app must be closed.
Just now crashed with no attachement, so it isn't even that. Basically I can't send mail to my work server at all right now. This _SUCKS_. :-(

I tried the WinDbg instructions, but they're for firefox and I couldn't find instructions for thunderbird. I tried following them and just replacing firefox with thunderbird whereever it was in the commands, but when I got to the point where it should have opened the window thunderbird window, I just got this and no window appeared: Opened log file 'c:\thunderbird-debug_1fb8_2009-06-22_08-56-20-214.log' 0:000> lm start end module name 00000000`00400000 00000000`00c31000 thunderbird (private pdb symbols) c:\symbols\thunderbird.pdb\49AC79821\thunderbird.pdb 00000000`758f0000 00000000`7593e000 wow64win (pdb symbols) c:\symbols\wow64win.pdb\63B17B5943ED4005997AF5777A41AA3C1\wow64win.pdb 00000000`75b00000 00000000`75b09000 wow64cpu (pdb symbols) c:\symbols\wow64cpu.pdb\AAECAF32A5A140F4BB89F46500D0B6171\wow64cpu.pdb 00000000`75b10000 00000000`75b55000 wow64 (pdb symbols) c:\symbols\wow64.pdb\1F283B162ABB4A4AA651CD0FE4F69C751\wow64.pdb 00000000`77830000 00000000`779b0000 ntdll (pdb symbols) c:\symbols\ntdll.pdb\C43EA3129CCD4F36AEE8C7BADA1D24C32\ntdll.pdb 00000000`779d0000 00000000`77b30000 ntdll32 (pdb symbols) c:\symbols\wntdll.pdb\28706E4F83D84D1CA4583C3C80B8AC6D2\wntdll.pdb 0:000> g ModLoad: 00000000`77700000 00000000`7782b000 WOW64_IMAGE_SECTION ModLoad: 00000000`769b0000 00000000`76ac0000 WOW64_IMAGE_SECTION ModLoad: 00000000`77700000 00000000`7782b000 NOT_AN_IMAGE ModLoad: 00000000`77630000 00000000`776fd000 NOT_AN_IMAGE ModLoad: 00000000`769b0000 00000000`76ac0000 C:\Windows\syswow64\kernel32.dll ModLoad: 00000000`600d0000 00000000`60142000 C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\js3250.dll ModLoad: 00000000`601b0000 00000000`601d7000 C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\nspr4.dll ModLoad: 00000000`768e0000 00000000`769a6000 C:\Windows\syswow64\ADVAPI32.dll ModLoad: 00000000`76e80000 00000000`76f70000 C:\Windows\syswow64\RPCRT4.dll ModLoad: 00000000`75b80000 00000000`75be0000 C:\Windows\syswow64\Secur32.dll ModLoad: 00000000`75610000 00000000`75617000 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\WSOCK32.dll ModLoad: 00000000`76c60000 00000000`76c8d000 C:\Windows\syswow64\WS2_32.dll ModLoad: 00000000`767c0000 00000000`7686a000 C:\Windows\syswow64\msvcrt.dll ModLoad: 00000000`76c50000 00000000`76c56000 C:\Windows\syswow64\NSI.dll ModLoad: 00000000`75660000 00000000`75692000 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\WINMM.dll ModLoad: 00000000`77430000 00000000`77500000 C:\Windows\syswow64\USER32.dll ModLoad: 00000000`76d60000 00000000`76df0000 C:\Windows\syswow64\GDI32.dll ModLoad: 00000000`771f0000 00000000`77334000 C:\Windows\syswow64\ole32.dll ModLoad: 00000000`76df0000 00000000`76e7d000 C:\Windows\syswow64\OLEAUT32.dll ModLoad: 00000000`75620000 00000000`75659000 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\OLEACC.dll ModLoad: 00000000`60370000 00000000`603d9000 C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\xpcom_core.dll ModLoad: 00000000`60290000 00000000`60297000 C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\plc4.dll ModLoad: 00000000`602a0000 00000000`602a6000 C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\plds4.dll ModLoad: 00000000`75be0000 00000000`766f0000 C:\Windows\syswow64\SHELL32.dll ModLoad: 00000000`76880000 00000000`768d8000 C:\Windows\syswow64\SHLWAPI.dll ModLoad: 00000000`74910000 00000000`74918000 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\VERSION.dll ModLoad: 00000000`602b0000 00000000`602ca000 C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\smime3.dll ModLoad: 00000000`601e0000 00000000`6023b000 C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\nss3.dll ModLoad: 00000000`602d0000 00000000`6030f000 C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\softokn3.dll ModLoad: 00000000`60310000 00000000`60331000 C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\ssl3.dll ModLoad: 00000000`60170000 00000000`60193000 C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\NSLDAP32V50.dll ModLoad: 00000000`601a0000 00000000`601a6000 C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\NSLDAPPR32V50.dll ModLoad: 00000000`60350000 00000000`60364000 C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\xpcom_compat.dll ModLoad: 00000000`77170000 00000000`771e3000 C:\Windows\syswow64\comdlg32.dll ModLoad: 00000000`75110000 00000000`752ae000 C:\Windows\WinSxS\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.6001.18000_none_5cdbaa5a083979cc\COMCTL32.dll ModLoad: 00000000`744e0000 00000000`74522000 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\WINSPOOL.DRV (1768.348): WOW64 breakpoint - code 4000001f (first chance) First chance exceptions are reported before any exception handling. ok, i think you need to add this after "sxn gp", sorry, the instructions are pre w64: sxi 4000001f gp but really, if you hit any exceptions which are "first chance", feel free to just enter "g" to continue, what matters eventually is an exception that *isn't* handled and becomes a "second chance" exception.
webolu, another question if you can, - is whether you reproduce with beta? https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Thunderbird/Thunderbird_Binaries

still [waiting on reporter], but perhaps others can offer perspective
wrong jay
I cannot confirm specifically because we're using Exchange 2003 and we're actually skipping 2007 altogether and going straight to 2010. I will say that with Exchange 2003 and a few years of using nightlies and now 3.0 RC1 and RC2 extensively, I've never seen a crash on sending email with or without attachments, and I send lots of email. I can't say I've used 3.0 RC3 (on vacation, not sending a lot work emails right now) enough to confirm no issues with it, but I assume that is still the case as the reporter seems to have been having their problem be well before 3.0 RC3.
webolutionary if you can still reproduce, an smtp log per https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Logging will also be helpful.
