There are 2 different failures, one is a timeout, one is longer like this: http://tinderbox.mozilla.org/showlog.cgi?log=Firefox-Unittest/1248881724.1248883598.28696.gz or the one in comment 6 not sure if those should stay in 2 separate bugs, btw since they are referred to the same test i suppose is ok to maintain them here for now.
The original bug was filed on Windows. Bugs on other platforms that don't contain excatly the same output are not this bug, as is the case with most of the log links here. There is a general issue with focus tests on linux, possibly related to bug 506175 or 506173. Most linux issues are likely one issue, unrelated to the actual test in question.

I don't see any benefit to having the current "test_focus.xul times out without any preceeding error" jammed into this bug which was about "test_focus.xul | Error thrown during test: fm.focusedElement is null - got 0, expected 1", an error which did occur, but does not now, and thus was fixed - particularly not when you have to scroll past the assignee saying in comment 10 "for the love of all that's holy, actually _look_ at what you're reporting and what this bug reported, don't just pick something that happens to have the same symptom!" to paste here.
