Highlighted message is unhighlghted when closing message opened in tab

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Right click on message and select Open Message in New Tab
2. Verify in mailbox that it is outlined with a dotted line
3. Close tabbed message
4. Message is now unhighlighted in mailbox.
Actual Results:  
Message highlight was unhighlighted

Expected Results:  
Message should stay highlighted, as it does when opening message in new window

I don't see dots ...

I get the expected results with Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1pre) Gecko/20090707 Shredder/3.0b3pre. WFM

I dont think this is a real bug, because is related to behaviour that is "legal" when a window lost focus (in this case when message lists lost focus)...

It depends on how you close the tab. If you see the tab first then the message will be marked as read which is the expected behavior. If you close the tab without switching to it email stays unread. I don't see bugs here.

Perhaps I wasn't very clear in what I am seeing.

When I double click a message and it opens in a tab, the focus shifts to the tab. When I close that message if it was new it is marked as unread, that's not the issue however.

What I am experiencing is that when I open a message in a new window and close it, the message that I opened and closed is still highlighted in the mailbox. So I can quickly see where I was and still see the message highlight.

When I do the same and open in a tab and close it there is no message highlight.

I looks like thread pane did not get focus after closing the tab. But I can't reproduce.  If you can reproduce using version 5 started in safe mode, please reopen the bug report.
