Enhancement request :
The top of the message pane contains e-mail metadata such as "from", "to", "subject", "date". All these fields are written one per line, thus taking a lot of vertical space, and hence less of the message body can be read. Even if today's monitors are relatively big, vertical space is still precious (whereas horizontal space isn't as much).
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
N/A
Actual Results:
N/A
Expected Results:
Better use of the horizontal space.

See the discussion in bug 480623 on removal of the compact header (the bug here could serve as continuation of that discussion per bug 480623 comment #50).
Then there is bug 499410 specifically on white-space removal in the header pane, and also the more general bug 456168.

Sorry, this is clearly a duplicate of bug 456168 (which <cough> could have used "message pane" in its description).

Ok, thanks. It wasn't clear to me if you were referring to the removed compact headers or the "normal" headers as such.
