User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1) Gecko/20090715 Firefox/3.5.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1) Gecko/20090715 Firefox/3.5.1
The most convenient way for me to create shortcuts on the bookmark toolbar is to drag&drop the web site favicon to the left of the address bar. Starting from Firefox 3.5.1, when I start dragging the icon, there is a hint window popping saying "This website does not supply identity information". The location of the window overlaps exactly on the bookmark toolbar and prevent me from dropping the icon to my bookmark folders. See the URL for a screenshot.
Because almost all sites have "identity information", so this pops up almost for all cases when I was trying to create a bookmark.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to slashdot.com
2. start dragging the favicon and try to drop it on your bookmark bar
Actual Results:
try a few times and you will see this yellow "This website does not supply identity information" window blocking your way
Expected Results:
it would be more intuitive to popup the hint at another location and time

sorry, I meant "Because almost all sites DO NOT have "identity information" ".
It would be nice to hide the hint window once the dragging is initiated.

I can't reproduce this; sounds like an issue that has been fixed a long time ago by Bug 312852.
Please try safe-mode to exclude extension problems:
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
Or a new profile:

If the problem persists, try reinstalling Firefox in a different folder.

I agree this is a duplicate of bug 312852, but apparently, this is not fixed for Linux (I tried both Ubuntu 9.04 and CentOS 5.3, both have this issue).
The key to replicate the bug is to drag the favicon fast. From start dragging to moving to the bookmark toolbar should be less than 1 second. If your cursor hangs over the favicon too long, it will popup before the dragging.
