Build 2000-08-25-08M18: NT4, Linux 6.0, Mac 9.04 Overview: When the default mail account is changed then the new default account should appear at the top of the list in the Account Settings dialog. This change should also be reflected in the Folder pane immediately. Currently this isn't happening. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a profile with 2 mail accounts. The first account appears at the top followed by the second. 2. Open Account Settings 3. Select the second account 4. Select the "Set as Default" button Actual Results: - No change appears in the Account Settings dialog. - The mail folder still does not reflect the change - The change appears after: - Mail is closed and opened again via Navigator, then switch back to Mail. - Exiting and restarting Mail. Expected Results: The new default account should appear as the first account in the Account Settings dialog. It should also appear first in the Mail folder pane.

Because of this, we're resolving the bug as EXPIRED. Nolonger reproducible with installation of official De SeaMonkey 2.53.2 beta 1 Mozilla/5.0 (NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0 Build 20200222130008 (Default Classic Theme, my normal created User Profile) on German WIN7 64bit:

My test (using steps from original report)

  1. I open Mailnews (shows several email, NG and Feed accounts) and click the third account, which should become Default Account
  2. Open Account Settings
  3. Select the second account
  4. Select the "Set as Default" button
» No change appears in the Account Settings Dialog (I think that is ok)
  5. Close Account Settings Dialog
  6. Switch to Browser, Menu ˋFile → Send Linkˊ
» Mail composer opens, shows new Default Email Acccount as sender 👍
  7. ˋSwitch to Mailnews → Click an Email account → Click Account Settingsˊ
» Account Settings Dialog appears, shows new default account at the top of the list

Additional information:
a) I think the behavior in my steps 1 ... 7 is quite ok. Closing this one as WFM, I think it's ok that only greyed [Define as Default] button reflects the new default mail account (and that the new default mail account immediately starts working due to (6).
b) Reporter also complains " Default Mail Account should also appear first in the Mail folder pane". I agree with that RfE, things would be more clear and well arranged if sort order in Account Settings Dialog would reflect sort order in Folder pane. I will add such RfE if it does not yet exist.
