Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2
Middle-clicking a bookmark folder opens the contained bookmarks in new tabs, leaving the existing tab in place.
Clicking the same folder and selecting Open All In Tabs from the menu re-uses the existing tab. It doesn't appear to matter whether the existing tab has content or has never been used.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Put a bookmark folder containing several bookmarks on the bookmarks toolbar.
2. Open a new window
3. Click the folder you just made and select Open All In Tabs -- Notice that the existing tab or tabs get re-used.
4. Open a new window
5. Middle-click the same folder -- Notice that now the existing tab or tabs *do not* get re-used.
Actual Results:
Expected Results:
I expected the existing tabs would be re-used in both cases.
The bug can be demonstrated in the browser's safe-mode, as well.
Seems related to bug 395024 and bug 472966
Did the behaviour change at the same time the pref became obsolete?

Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode or a fresh profile? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

Tyler: Yes, it still happens in 3.6.13, either in safe-mode, or in a new profile.
The specific case is a folder on my bookmarks-toolbar containing several sub-folders, one of which contains weather-related sites.
Middle-clicking on the weather sub-folder opens n new tabs in addition to the current tab, leaving the current tab's content as it was.
Clicking on the toolbar folder, navigating into the weather sub-folder, and left-clicking on the "Open All in Tabs" menu item that appears below the folder's bookmarks, re-uses the current tab for one of the weather sites and opens n-1 new tabs for the others.
Per your request, I opened firefox in safe-mode and tested the effect. It still happened as I had reported it.
Secondly, I created a new profile, loaded nothing but my bookmarks, and tested again. It still happened as I've reported it.
I'm running the OS-X version of Firefox in Mac OS 10.6.6.
