1.9.x has a new element called panel, which can be used in popup-situations. This patch takes care for the today pane. I remember we've had some popup-in-popup problems, using a panel may be the solution. This patch is around 3 months old, I wonder why I didn't upload it earlier...

Philipp, I think you've already attached this patch for bug 461744 (Fix-v5 attachment (id=383659) ) almost three months ago.
I tried this patch on WinXP and I found the dropdown marker misplaced 1px to the right (see bug 461744 comment 11), a little problem that I tried to correct with solutions showed in bug 461744 comment 13 (solutions that should be tested on Linux).
