Write the Thunderbird 3 Beta 4 release notes.
Could we add Windows 7 to the list of supported Windows versions?
Flags: blocking-thunderbird3+

Attached file release notes v1
Windows 7 isn't being release until late October. I'd rather not include them until then since it's not a shipping product.

Hum don't we want to advertise GS ?
did this make the cut for b4? If so it can be removed.
"The toolbar drop down folder picker does not work in Beta 3. (Bug 465269)"
"Gecko 1.9.1.1" should be "Gecko 1.9.1.4", or is that .3?

Under known issues - bug 490097 is now fixed - so "The new autoconfig dialog is displayed in English in localized versions of Thunderbird." should be removed.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.9.1.4pre) Gecko/20090915 Thunderbird/3.0b4

So Gecko 1.9.1.3 is the correct version to mention.

Effectively it is 1.9.1.3 plus a few extra patches.

"The folder pane offers a Smart Folders mode which combines together special mailboxes (for example Inbox) from multiple accounts." (or just combines, or groups together)

(didn't think PA Dutch was spoken much outside PA)

- When linking to Thunderbird 2 would it be better to link to http://trunk.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/ rather than the TB 2 download page?

- We're not expecting any more beta releases before Thunderbird 3.

http://trunk.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/3.0b4/

- Not sure we should really advertise the changes in cookies as they generally require an extension to be of any use.

http://trunk.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/3.0b4/releasenotes/

- Under "Tabbed Email Messages", there is the sentence "Thunderbird 3 Beta 4 includes improved support for Web cookies and form filling." - this doesn't seem to quite fit, and again is something that extensions can really utilise, users with just the standard Thunderbird install won't be able to make much/any use of.

- Under "New Mail Account Wizard":
-- Firstly "The new Mail Account Wizard matches against" should be "A new Mail Account Wizard matches against" (or something similar.
-- Secondly saying we've got a new one, then we are also testing it, doesn't sound right.

- Redesigned Mail Toolbar - I wonder if it is worth pointing out that the buttons on the header are closer to the item to which they apply/in a tab-dependent position.

- Put the "Message Archive" section ahead of the "Improved Gmail Integration" section.

- Under "Known Issues" / "All Systems" change "The extended columns in the folder pane was removed in Beta 1." to "The extended columns in the folder pane were removed in Beta 1." (was -> were).

- Under "Known Issues" / "All Systems" prefix "Ensure extensions either come from a secure server using the HTTPS protocol or are digitally signed, or they will fail to install." by "Thunderbird now requires that ...".

- In the FAQ section, under "5. Where's the Thunderbird 3 Beta 4 source code?" I suggest changing the build instructions link to https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Simple_Thunderbird_build - it is a simpler page than the build instructions and focussed specifically on Thunderbird.
I think we should change "New Mail Account Wizard" to "A new Mail Account Set-up Wizard" - I think it possibly makes it slightly clearer what we're actually talking about.

Two minor issues with the press release posted at http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/about/press/archive/2009-09-22-01

 - states September 20, 2009, as the publication date (should be 22);
 - "Thunderbird 3 beta 4" links directly to the download page, should be
   http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/3.0b4/ instead.

Pointing to download page is fine here. Otherwise too many steps to get to download product.
We've just pushed a fix to the date issue.

Everything is now live, so this bug is fixed.
