We should do the following upgrades on production-opsi to help its performance: * 2GB of RAM * Upgrade the kernel from a 486 one to a 686 one. * Install VMware tools
For fun, I ran hdparm to test the I/O on staging-opsi vs. a staging linux slave. Here's the results moz2-linux-slave04: /dev/sda: Timing cached reads: 4684 MB in 2.00 seconds = 2345.69 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 132 MB in 3.02 seconds = 43.64 MB/sec staging-opsi: /dev/sda: Timing cached reads: 3770 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1886.00 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 18 MB in 3.35 seconds = 5.37 MB/sec I'm still going to go ahead and do the upgrades on production-opsi, but there's going to be more we need to do here.
These upgrades have been completed on production-opsi. Filed bug 518564 to further investigate the disk I/O issues.
