This behavior is in some way intentionally. The fix for Bug 506322 removed the source code that was responsible for changing the color if the Today Pane loses focus. See Bug 506322 Comment #5.

On WinXP at least, the selected folder does change color depending on if the folder pane has focus.  I hope the Today Pane will behave the same way.

Can I put that :focus thing in my userchrome.css without a code change and if so would someone please post a solution?
