This plugin will let us replace the current captcha with reCAPTCHA, which should let us re-enable user registration on MDC, since the current captcha has been bypassed by bots. http://developer.mindtouch.com/App_Catalog/Recaptcha_as_captcha_library

Let me know when we can get this scheduled to be done, or do we need to try to get our test setup put together first? I'm torn on that; I recognize it would be good to test, but if it's going to take a while for that to happen, this is a problem since I'm getting bugged a lot about the current inability to create new accounts.

I don't; is this something IT can take care of or do I need to do it?
Usually IT doesn't supply the api keys.

When do you want me to do this? Test set up is a little bit out.
Good question. It's fairly urgent but I think waiting for the test rig is appropriate, so let's get the test server up first, then deal with this.

Looks good to me. I created two accounts, one using the text captcha, one with the audio, plus tested it with incorrect words and no word at all, and was correctly rejected there. Any additional thoughts on QA for this from the QA guys before we throw the reCAPTCHA plugin live?
As far as I'm concerned, this can go live. I'm pinging QA to see if they have any thoughts on further testing.
Stephen says the reCAPTCHA plugin is good to go, so let's roll it out ASAP please.

Before this is really resolved, MDC needs to be restarted to pick up the configuration change of turning back on account registrations.
