However, when viewing Address Book in New Message, contacts show then disappear quickly. Displaying fine in Address Book however. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add LDAP directory to addressbook 2. Test replication/browse in addressbook successfully 3. Open up Compose New Message, select Contacts, LDAP Address book selected Actual Results: Contacts appear quickly then disappear. Expected Results: Contacts should show and 'stay', much like regular addressbook in Tbird.

Bug 391263? See Bug 391263 Comment #36.
I have a very similar problem, tested in TB2 and TB3b4: My LDAP Address Book (with 102 contacts in the server) appear empty in the Address Book window and in the sidebar. Only when write in the search/filter box the contacts appear. But, installing the addon 'Contacts Sidebar' in TB2 (http://jpeters.no-ip.com/extensions/?page=tb_cs) the sidebar show all contacts from ldap fine.

This may be connected. In TB2 once I closed my contacts pane in the compose window I could never get it back. It appeared as a frame edge that could never be expanded. The drag arrows worked only on the whole compose window, never the contacts pane/frame. I have to go back to the main window and open an Address Book window separately, then copy the necessary address to the compose window. This problem continues even though I updated to TB3.
I also have a problem using ldap but with Lightning. When inviting people to an event, LDAP is searched for the first name but for all subsequent names only the personal address book is used.

Sam, Iagosrl, do you agree this is the same as Bug 391263 - Addresses disappears in local personal address book (Both first LDAP directory and 'Personal Address Book' points same abook.mab) ?
