Details
This will be a newsgroup for Mozilla Foundation's drumbeat group. Mozilla Drumbeat is a global community of people who explain, protect and improve the internet as a public resource (more info here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Drumbeat)
We would like the newsgroup to be called mozilla.community.drumbeat. Moderators should be myself and mark@mozillafoundation.org
Please let me know if you need anything else.

Fine with me as mozilla.community.drumbeat. Punting to server ops by reassigning to their alias; CCying shyam in case this is the wrong thing!

Chelsea,
Do you want this to be a moderated list? Basically, a newsgroup request means three things :
1) A mailing list, in this case - community-drumbeat@lists.mozilla.org
2) A Newsgroup, in this case - mozilla.community.drumbeat
3) Make the above appear in Google.
Now if this is going to be a moderated group, where either you or Mark will have to approve posts, I'm going to have to set it up a little differently, hence the question. Or did you just mean you and Mark would be admins?
Thanks!

Shyam,
I used the wrong term. Admins, not moderators. We don't want to have to approve posts. Thanks for helping me clarify.

That's the one we control. The Newsgroup is just a USENET Newsgroup of this mailing list and the Google Groups is a mirror of that, allowing users to post via email.

Hey Shyam,
We're having a problem with the new google group in that no one seems to be able to post to it. Do you have any resources that you can point me to or let me know what settings I need to enable to make this happen?
Also, do I set a new password for administration to the mailing list or is it the same as my other mailing list passwords on the mailman system?
Thanks!

Hi Chelsea,
http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.community.drumbeat/ Has a Subscribe to this Group link on the right side, people need to subscribe before they can post.
Or this is the direct link : http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.community.drumbeat/subscribe
I've set and emailed the mailing list admin password to you and Mark, that's the one you should be using. Google mirrors the stuff, I don't think you have an "Admin" option there.

Looks like the google group is working now (and for the e-mail with the password). Thanks again for your help!
