Not sure what the exact source of this bug is. But Ryan just setup the iframe content for the First Run page, and while the live preview works well on the 6 thumbnails, when I scroll off into the white space, I see Sean's animated clouds preview and it sticks as my Persona when I go to a different screen. To reproduce: * I'm on the 3.6 b1 * I have the Personas add on installed version: 1.3.1 * Go here: http://sm-personas01.mozilla.org/en-US/external/mozilla/firstrun.php * Scroll over the thumbnails for a live preview. When you scroll into the white space, you should either see the same animated clouds I see, or something else. When I go to the GetPersonas.com page. I have a similar experience, when I scroll at the very edge of the thumbnails. It's very quick, but I see the same animated clouds. We need to fix this for 3.6, as the live preview function (and Personas in general) are being featured across various pages on mozilla.com. It seems like having the Personas add-on installed is what's creating the conflict.
cbeard is out of town until late next week...is there anyone else we can assign this to? this is top priority stuff...
could be a compatibility issue. looping in the people working on personas extension and 3.6 compatibility, and shifting importance to "major".

I actually disabled my add-on, restarted Firefox, and am still having that same problem.
Severity: major → normal
Can a few others also give this a try to see if they're experiencing the same thing? I went ahead and completely uninstalled the add-on, and I no longer have that problem. Is this still a compatibility issue? If not, please let me know so we can redirect the bug, as appropriate.
hi tara, what do you mean by "animated clouds?" Can you still repro this with the latest 1.9.2 nightly build? (a lot more fixes have landed, like undo themes). bottom line, if the extension is not installed and you're not getting the problem anymore, then its going to be an addon problem. Thus, that remains assigned to labs > personas component.
Hey Tony. By "animated clouds", I meant Sean's animated clouds Persona: http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/persona/41360, which would suddenly be assumed by my browser when I hovered around the white space. I can't reproduce with the latest nightly though. So, does that mean we're okay here?
I just reproduced it (by accident) on the nightly. I had the "Endless Possibilities" Persona on. I was checking out some of the recent designs in the gallery, and when on the gallery page, or detail page, as I scrolled on the edge of the thumbnail... the live preview would call another (a third) Persona. For me, it was the "Retro notes", which was an earlier Persona I had. And it just applied it for me automatically, even though that Persona was not displayed on that page. I have a similar experience, on the iframe designs that Ryan set up, here: http://sm-personas01.mozilla.org/en-US/external/mozilla/firstrun.php Sorry if it sounds confusing... it's the best way I can describe it. Happy to show you on my computer if you wish. I have the Personas add-on installed right now, too...
I looked over tara's shoulder, and there seems to be a timing issue with the header and footer refreshing with the new persona, as well as caching the older ones used. This is not limited to the preview website, but any page that allows persona previews. Looking into narrowing a reproducible scenario now. This is a firefox issue, as we did this without the extension installed.
