User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.3a1pre) Gecko/20091110 Firefox/3.7a1pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6pre) Gecko/20091111 Lightning/1.0pre Thunderbird/3.0pre, SourceStamp=c5e52ffc5447 The summary says it all. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select a mail folder with only a few messages inside; 2. Ensure that no message is selected in the message pane, deselect if necessary; 3. Right-click free space in the message pane. Actual Results: A tiny (estimated 4x4px) empty context menu is displayed. Expected Results: Either no context menu at all - or a context menu with reasonable options like "select all" is shown.

Oops, please read "message list pane" instead of "message pane" in the steps 2 and 3. Sorry for the spam.
A agree that this bug sounds like a dupe, but tried hard and still couldn't find the original. Anyway, this is a regression: The last good nightly: 2009-09-28-03-comm-1.9.1 from <http://hg.mozilla.org/comm-central/rev/5e8d2ae9de7e>. The first bad one: 2009-09-29-03-comm-1.9.1 from <http://hg.mozilla.org/comm-central/rev/13a8ea0d02a9>.

Can't reproduce it with current comm-1.9.1 and comm-central builds anymore, this must have got fixed at some point => FIXED.

Sorry for the spam, but have to reopen. It turns out to be, that the visibility of this bug depends on the gtk theme. On Ubuntu 9.10, I switched from the default 'Human' theme to 'Clearlooks', which hid the issue, making me think, the bug were resolved. There is some indication that the bug is there even if invisible: STR: 1. run 'gconftool-2 -t string -s /desktop/gnome/interface/gtk_theme Clearlooks' to set the gtk theme to 'Clearlooks' 2. open Thunderbird and perform STR from comment #0 3. (left) click a menu item (e.g. 'File', 'Tools', 'Help' etc.) Actual Results: you have to click twice, because the first click only discards the invisible empty context menu.
