User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091109 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.5 Build Identifier: I have set Thunderbird to encode all emails (in and out) in Western (Iso-8859-1). I have done so because Unicode is not honoring my font settings (all in Georgia) and the font which does appear is virtually unreadable. I am using Ubuntu Karmic and the Thunderbird package from the repositories. Reproducible: Always

I think that your problem may be this: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91190#c47 Cit: To change UTF-8 fonts in Thunderbird set fonts for "Other Languages".
