Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091121 Thunderbird/3.0
When I forward or reply an EML that is not directly in Thunderbird, but an EML file on my C drive, it changes the location of the images when forwarding or replying the e-mail.
I attached an example to this bug report however i can reproduce it with every EML with images included. For this EML file the following happens:
When opening the e-mail, the image location is:
mailbox:///C:/test04.eml?number=0&part=1.2&filename=Advertentie.jpg
But when replying the e-mail, the image location is:
file:///C:/test04.eml?header=quotebody&part=1.2&filename=Advertentie.jpg
And when forwarding the e-mail, the image location is:
file:///C:/test04.eml?fetchCompleteMessage=true&part=1.2&filename=Advertentie.jpg
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Save an EML with included images in it on your hard disk
2. Open it with Thunderbird
3. Click forward or reply
Actual Results:
The images don't appear. The broken link symbol is shown.
Expected Results:
The images should be shown.
Tried it on WIN XP 32bit and WIN Vista 32bit, but no difference.
This bug is actually also present in Thunderbird 2.

This looks like either bug 351109 or bug 334166 .
It looks similar to 351109 indeed. I'm not sure about the other one. The problem is rather serious for us.
We created an addon for Thunderbird allowing our clients to save e-mails from Thunderbird to our office management program (save e-mails project related on a server). From our software they open the saved EML's to read/reply/forward them using Thunderbird. This is appearently unusable for the moment because the images (even in signatures) are invisible. This is an attempt to bring Thunderbird on a higher stand in a specific sector (Architects). We hope this bug will be fixed soon.
