This was preferable to just Tab, because Tab would also focus every link and, email recipient along the way. I understand that Ctrl-Tab is now used to switch between Thunderbird tabs. Is there another way to easily switch focus among the panes in a given tab? This is important to make Thunderbird fully keyboard-navigable, which is in turn important for accessibility. F6 is used to do exactly that switching. It switches between folders, messages and the preview pane if active. That still works and is expected to be used.
