I remember in Thunderbird 2, you could tell if an account had new messages even if it was collapsed. This does not appear to be the case in Thunderbird 3.
Micah it's now color based, if you collapse the accounts they will show in blue if they contain new messages. While In TB they showed something like (XXX) next to them right ?

Yeah, but I don't see a difference between the colors in collapsed accounts. BTW, the color is based on theme and I had to cycle through a few in Ubuntu to be able to read the folder name with New Messages that just arrived.
Summary: When an Account is collapsed there is no marking for new messages → When an Account is collapsed there is no marking for new messages that have just arrived
I don't know about linux, but on windows (vista) default theme the account icon still gets a starburst when there are new messages, but no color change. STM linux *should* be the same
Do you still see this issue when using version 5 or 6 (due out a week)?
